Some might say you aren't shopping right if you don't get your groceries from stores supplied by this company. Wakefern Food is one of the leading wholesale distribution cooperatives in the US, supplying groceries and other merchandise to a chain of nearly 200 ShopRite supermarkets in five eastern states. The company supplies both national brand and private-label products (ShopRite, Chef's Express, Readington Farms) to its member stores; Wakefern also offers advertising, merchandising, insurance, and other business support services. The co-op, which boasts more than 40 members, was founded by seven grocers in 1946.
