Conad is the largest food retailer in Italy. The company is a cooperative system of entrepreneurs dealing in large-scale distribution. It is structured into three levels:
• Entrepreneurs Members (owners of retail outlets)
• Cooperatives (large shopping and distribution centers)
• Consortium (a service and market-oriented body for
member companies)

Conad operates stores of four formats: hypermarkets, convenience stores, supermarkets and petrol stations in Italy.
In fiscal year 2006 the turnover of Conad reached EUR 8.9 billion.
