Head office: Japan
Japanese giant AEON CO. has enough retail ventures to last for eons. The core business of Japan's AEON Group, AEON CO. owns or franchises more than 4,200 stores worldwide. It operates about 465 JUSCO superstores (mostly in Japan), and 2,850-plus Ministop convenience stores. It is also Japan's largest supermarket chain, with about 700 stores. AEON also runs a number of specialty chains, including The Body Shop and Laura Ashley stores in Japan. It has a joint venture in Japan with Sports Authority and owns the women's clothing chain The Talbots. Also, the firm operates AEON Welcia, Japan's biggest drugstore chain. Other AEON operations are shopping centre development and financial and credit card services.
The principles of AEON are peace, people and community. The group's operations are dedicated to the pursuit of peace through prosperity. AEON respects human dignity and values personal relationships as well as it is rooted in local community life and dedicated to making a continuing contribution to the community.
AEON achieved its seventh straight year of record-high consolidated operating income: the total revenues of the company in 2007 totalled more than US $ 40 million. The company addresses this to its strategy of centring AEON’s retail and services operations on shopping centres it develops and manages.
