Associated British Foods plc is an international food, ingredients and retail company. Its business segments comprised: Grocery, which manufactures grocery products, including hot beverages, sugar and sweeteners, vegetable oils, bread and baked goods, ethnic foods, herbs and spices and meat and dairy products which are sold to retail, wholesale and foodservice businesses; Sugar, which processes sugar beet and sugar cane for sale to industrial users and to Silver Spoon, which is included in the grocery segment; Agriculture, which manufactures animal feeds and the provision of other products for the agriculture sector; Ingredients, which manufactures bakers’ yeast, bakery ingredients, specialty proteins, enzymes, lipid technologies and polyols, and Retail, which is engaged in the buying and merchandising value clothing and accessories through the Primark and Penneys retail chains.
In September 2007, the Company acquired 20% of the breakfast cereal and cereal bar business, Jordans. The revenue of the company in fiscal year 2007 was GBP 6.8 (EUR 10) billion.
