Carrefour acquires Ahold Polska
Polish Competition Authorities have given their approval regarding the acquisition of Ahold Polska by the Carrefour Group for €375 millon.
Ahold has 194 stores in Poland, with 15 hypermarkets under the Hypernova banner. The purchase will bring Carrefour’s total network in Poland to close to 330 stores. The approval is conditional on the disposal of 9 stores, to which Carrefour Group has already agreed.
Ahold and Carrefour expect to close the transaction within a week. Carrefour Polska will become #2 in the Polish food retail market, with close to €2 billion sales.
