UPDATE: Moberg goes to Dubai
Anders Moberg, who will leave his position as CEO Ahold, will take over as CEO of the Majid Al Futtaim Group, a Dubai-based developer and manager of shopping centres and hypermarkets in the Middle East and North Africa. He succeeds François de Montaudouin, and takes over as of July 1, 2007.
Moberg's sudden resignation had prompted speculation about Ahold’s plans, but Chairman René Dahan said his departure did not indicate the company would change course. CFO John Rishton will replace Moberg on an interim basis.
Majid Al Futtaim, named after its founder and president, operates malls in countries such as Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and Lebanon.
