D&S opens two Ekono stores in Santiago de Chile
The new stores, operating under the Ekono banner, have an assorment of some 3,000 sku's including 340 items under their own brand: "e!". D&S plans to open 30 more stores in Santiago de Chile this year, investing some 220 million Chilean pesos (approximately €300.000) per store.
D&S has over 80 hypermarkets and supermarkets in Chile but has faced negative impact in its financial performance in the last year due to growing competition. This has forced the company to apply a new financial plan to increase organic growth allocating €115 million to new expansion plans.
