Mexican retailer Soriana modernises its warehouse
Mexican retailer Soriana announces the complete modernisation and extension of its distribution centre in Cuautitlán in order to meet the increased capacity needs following the intended opening of new shops in the next three years.
The retailer, known as Organización Soriana, plans to open new shops in the area of Cuautitlán following its expansion plans for 2006-2010. Soriana said early this week it had openend 37 new stores in 2006. It currently operates 234 stores in Mexico, after adding last year 18 Soriana hypermarkets, 17 Soriana supermarkets and two discount stores under the City Club banner. These new centres increased the retailer’s floor space by 216,300 square metres, which is a 14 per cent increase compared to 2005.
