Aldi to open its first distribution centre in Hungary
Next year the German discounter Aldi (Aldi South) will open a logistic centre in the Hungarian city of Biatorbágy. This means a first concrete step of Aldi with regard to its intended entry of the Hungarian market. Aldi invests €50mn in the new distribution centre.
Opening of the first Aldi stores in Hungary is scheduled for 2008. Sources state that the German discounter set a target of 500 stores in Hungary, that will be serviced by five distribution centres in the Central European country. The plans for the Hungarian market entry are executed via Aldi South’s Austrian subsidiary Hofer.
