Casino posts 15.8% Q2 sales growth
French retailer Casino’s international sales helped boost its second-quarter performance as sales rose 15.8 per cent year on year, with group sales reaching €6.12 billion. Sales at its home market reached €4.32 billion, up 3.7 per cent from the €4.16 billion it reported a year ago.
Casino’s hypermarket sales rose by 2.8 per cent, while convenience stores posted a 5.3 per cent growth. Sales at discount chains went up by 0.5 per cent. The retailer attributed the growth to a solid performance delivered by its hyper and supermarkets. On a same-store basis, hypermarket sales went up 2.8 per cent. Sales at Casino’s discount stores were lower, down by 4.2 per cent for Franprix and a 8.8 per cent decline for Leader Price.
