Campbell's opens 'state of the art' megastore
Campbell’s Cash & Carry, a division of the grocery wholesaler, Metcash, will open what it describes as a state of the art megastore to service small retailers, restaurants and other businesses next Monday. The new 5500m2 megastore will be located in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. Andrew Reitzer, Metcash CEO, said the megastore will feature a totally new design and layout.
The store will carry a range of more than 13,000 products, covering dry groceries, dairy, freezer, confectionery, soft drinks, general merchandise, food service and for the first time meat and fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as cigarettes and liquor to license holders. The mega-store will employ over 40 staff and provide a one-stop wholesale outlet for retailers in Melbourne’s eastern region.
Peter Dubbelman, Campbell’s Cash & Carry CEO, said the new outlet is expected to become one of their top five outlets across Australia, both in terms of revenue and transactions. The outlet, which is the 49th in Campbell’s national chain, will also feature the latest technology in point of sale and back office automation, and will trade seven days a week.
