Morrisons grows 11% in one month
Morrisons' share of the UK grocery market now stands at 11.6% up from 11.1%. According to the latest figures from TNS Worldpanel, this occurred in the 12 weeks up to February 24, 2008. Edward Garner, director of research, TNS Worldpanel, says the growth has been driven particularly by increasing shopper numbers, but also partially due to food price inflation.
Competition stays high in the UK with pressure from Morrisson’s on chains such as Tesco, which has seen its share dip from 31.3% a year ago to 30.9% today. However, discounters such as Aldi and Lidl continue to increase share:
