Visibly fresh with TTI label

Together with Ciba Spezialitätenchemie, Bizerba, one of the leading providers of scales, information and food-service technology, is set to revolutionise the value-added chain "from production to consumer".

The OnVuTM freshness indicator (a brand of Ciba Spezialitätenchemie) has been adapted by Bizerba to function as a TTI ("Time Temperature Indicator") system label, complete with application technology. The Bizerba TTI system label functions based on a printing ink developed by Ciba, which changes colour under the influences of light, temperature and time. If the ideal temperature or number of pre-defined shelf-life days is exceeded, the colour of the TTI system label changes from "fresh" to "still suitable for consumption" to "no longer consumable”, thus providing an at-a-glance indication of the freshness of self-service, packed goods.

Bizerba has implemented innovative activation and application technology, so that the energetic charge process, application of the filter and encoding of the packaging with tracking data are completed in one step.  This TTI system label is applied during the labeling process like a normal identification label, and can be tracked and checked at any point along the supply chain, right up to the retail POS. Bizerba will be present at the IFFA (Frankfurt, May 5-10).
