Leading Dutch retailers to use GDSN for data alignment
Two leading Dutch retailers, Albert Heijn and Superunie, have decided to align their article master-data from German suppliers via the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN). For SINFOS customers this requirement is easily implemented.
The Albert Heijn supermarket chain synchronises master data via their home data pool Agentrics; the purchasing consortium Superunie uses the GS1 DAS data pool, which is operated in the Netherlands by 1SYNC, on behalf of GS1. Both pools are connected via the GDSN network to SINFOS, Europe’s leading data pool. The move to international, GDSN-based master-data exchange is particularly straightforward for manufacturers who already use SINFOS to align their article master-data.
“The initiative started by Albert Heijn and Superunie, in conjunction with us, is a perfect example of how SINFOS suppliers can also make their master data easily available to retail companies such as these, who extract their data via 1SYNC or Agentrics,” stresses Rolf Stark, Managing Director of SINFOS. “However, the initiative represents a particular success with regards to implementation of the Global Data Synchronization Network. Together with our Dutch colleagues from GS1 DAS, this constitutes important pioneering work – work that will also enrich and advance the Étoile Project with valuable practical findings.” Étoile is a joint project between the Global Commerce Initiative (GCI) and leading retail companies in Europe and North America, the target of which is the removal of barriers to implementation and interoperability.
