SABMiller expands in India
SABMiller plans to invest around US$100 million a year for the next five years and build up to four new breweries in India. The beer maker, which currently has 10 breweries in India and 36% market share in India, is also planning to launch international as well as local brands in the Indian market.
Jean Marc Delpon de Vaux, India Managing Director, stated: “We will add about 9 million cases every year and hence need to expand our existing capacities as well as set up newer ones.” The new investments do not include US$150 million, which the company had previously planned for increasing capacities and modernisation of its plants. Its current capacity is about 57.6 million cases (12 bottles of 650 ml each).
SABMiller aims to build breweries whose capacities can be expanded to as much as between 3 million hectalitres and 4 million hectalitres.
