Heinz acquires Bénédicta
Heinz, which manufactures and markets primarily ketchup and condiments, among other food items, has acquired the France-based Bénédicta, manufacturer of tabletop sauces, mayonnaises and salad dressings. Bénédicta, generates approximately €60.3 million in sales.
.
The US food group said the acquisition fits "perfectly into Heinz's global strategy" to focus its portfolio on core categories: ketchup and sauces, infant/nutrition and meals and snacks (including baked beans, soups and pasta meals). Roel van Neerbos, president of Heinz Continental Europe, said: "Bénédicta will strengthen Heinz's sauces business in France."
Both parties believe that the proposed acquisition will enhance prospects for the long-term growth of both Bénédicta and the Heinz brand.
